How to Descale your Nespresso Expert
Your Nespresso Expert needs some love too. This machine makes you coffees when you need them the most, it shows you love when no one else will and it will brighten your day with its wonderful taste. So maintaining a healthy Nespresso Expert is the key to ensuring it lives a long and healthy life.
Have you ever noticed that your coffee tastes slightly off? Then your Nespresso Expert may need descaling. Descaling is an important aspect of maintenance that only takes around 25 minutes out of your day and we can show you how to do it.
What is Descaling?
The process of descaling is the removal of calcium carbonate deposits inside the pipes of your Nespresso machine. When you make a coffee, hot water is extracted from the water tank and then passes through the pipes and out the coffee outlet to produce coffee. That water contains the calcium carbonate which gets left behind in the pipes building up over time. Build-up like this can be particularly prevalent in places that use hard water due to its higher concentration. When the descaling process is complete, you will be left with a healthy clean machine resulting in better tasting coffee.
How Often Should I Descale My Nespresso Expert?
Unlike other models, the Nespresso Expert offers a maintenance light that will flash orange, signifying that it needs to be descaled. Alternatively, if you are using the connectivity features on the Nespresso app, you will receive a notification when your machine is ready to be descaled. Though, like the other Nespresso models, one should aim to descale their Nespresso Expert every three months or twice a year as a minimum.
What Will I Need?
Descaling your machine requires a solution kit. The Urnex Dezcal Activated Scale Remover kit is the perfect choice for this process. It’s cheap, non-toxic, biodegradable, safe and works on most machines. In order for the process to be successful, you will also need fresh water and a container to catch the water.
