How to Descale your Nespresso Kitchenaid
The Nespresso Kitchenaid is a blessing. From looking great to producing amazing coffee, this machine is wonderful. But it is important to keep your machine healthy in order to guarantee a long life.
Have you ever noticed that your coffee tastes slightly off? Then your Nespresso Kitchenaid may need descaling. Descaling is an important aspect of maintenance that only takes around 20 minutes out of your day and we can show you how to do it.
What is Descaling?
Descaling refers to the process of removing a mineral called calcium carbonate from the pipes of your machine. Every time you use your Nespresso Kitchenaid, the hot water flowing through the machine leaves small deposits of this mineral that builds up over time. This build-up can be particularly prevalent in places that use hard water. When you descale a Nespresso Kitchenaid, you will be removing these deposits resulting in a healthier machine and better tasting coffee.
How Often Should I Descale My Nespresso Kitchenaid?
It is recommended by Nespresso that you descale your machine once a month for the best results. Descaling your Kitchenaid less often will result in increased build-up and possible issues in the future.
What Will I Need?
You will need fresh water to fill your water tank and a container to catch the water. But more importantly, you need a descaling solution kid. The Urnex Dezcal Activated Scale Remover kit is cheap, non-toxic, biodegradable, safe and works on most machines. For only $3 this will get the job done successfully.
Steps To Descaling My Nespresso Kitchenaid
The steps required to descale a Nespresso Kitchenaid are quite simple. Follow this process to ensure that your Kitchenaid is clean and ready to make delicious coffee.
Preparing my Kitchenaid
First, remove the water tank from the back of the machine, rinse and dry.
Fill the water tank with two sachets of descaling solution and then with water until the fill line.
Place a cup or container capable of holding 1.5 litres under the coffee outlet.
Starting the descaling process
To enter descaling mode, turn the dial on the front of the machine to the most left position and hold it there for 6 seconds until the light starts to blink.
Then turn the dial clockwise until the flashing light is at the first notch in the right position.
Press the brewing button and let it run until the water tank is empty. The solution will flow through your Nespresso Kitchenaid and remove any buildup from inside the machine.
Empty the solution from the container and place it back under the coffee outlet.
Rinsing my Nespresso machine
Rinse out the water tank and fill with fresh water only.
Repeat the cycle with the fresh water.
Exiting descaling mode
Your Nespresso Kitchenaid will automatically switch to normal mode when the cycle is complete.
Now, your Nespresso Kitchenaid has been descaled and is ready to make amazing coffees again.
