Your Nespresso Creatista is great for quick, easy, high-quality coffee when you need it. Therefore, maintaining its health is important to ensure it continues to do so for a long time. Regularly cleaning your machine is easy and doesn't take up too much time.

Have you ever noticed that your coffee tastes slightly off? Then your Nespresso Creatista may need descaling. Descaling is an important aspect of maintenance that only takes around 15 minutes out of your day and we can show you how to do it.

What is Descaling?

Descaling is the process of removing calcium carbonate mineral build-up from the inside of your Nespresso machine. Every time your Creatista is used, the hot water flowing through the machine leaves small deposits of this carbonate that can clog the pipes and cause damage if not treated properly. This build-up can be particularly prevalent in places that use hard water due to a higher concentration of minerals. When you descale your Nespresso Creatista, your machine will be clean, healthy and can produce great coffee again.

How Often Should I Descale My Nespresso Creatista?

Based on your consumption profile and the level of water hardness that you have set in the machine, a descaling alert will trigger when it needs to be descaled. This alert will appear on the display of your machine. If your consumption profile consists primarily of cappuccino, latte macchiato or hot water, the descaling alert will notify you sooner than a profile comprised mainly of regular coffee. Though, like the other Nespresso models, one should descale their Nespresso Creatista every three months or twice a year as a minimum.

What Will I Need?

When descaling your machine, it is recommended that you use a good descaling solution kit. The Urnex Dezcal Activated Scale Remover kit is great for an efficient clean. It’s cheap, non-toxic, biodegradable, safe and works on most machines. For only $3 this will get the job done. You will also need fresh water to mix with the solution and a large container to catch what is expelled.

Steps To Descaling My Nespresso Creatista

The steps required to descale a Nespresso Creatista are quite simple. Follow this process to ensure that your Creatista is clean and ready to make delicious coffee.

Preparing my Creatista

  • Using the dial, scroll through the display menu and select maintenance by pressing the dial.

  • Open the lever at the top of the machine to remove any capsules left inside. Turn the dial to select the next step.

  • Empty the drip tray, the capsule container and the water tank.

  • Fill the water tank with fresh water to the descale mark (500ml) and add the descaling solution.

  • Place a container under the coffee outlet and steam nozzle. Note that the container must be able to hold at least 1 litre of liquid.

Starting the descaling process

  • Simply press the start button on top of the machine to begin the descaling process.

  • The solution will flow through the machine and alternately exit through the coffee outlet and the steam nozzle.

Rinsing my Nespresso Machine

  • Once the process is complete, empty the container and the drip tray.

  • Thoroughly rinse out the water tank ensuring it is devoid of any leftover solution.

  • Then, fill the water tank with fresh water to the max level.

  • Press start to begin the first rinse cycle.

  • Once complete, press start again to begin the final rinse cycle.

Exiting descaling mode

  • When the final cycle has finished, your Creatista will automatically turn off.

Now, your Nespresso Creatista has been descaled and is ready to make amazing coffees again.
