Once again, we at the Artizan Coffee Company would like to show our commitment to quality by announcing our 2016 USDA organic certification. For the third year in a row, we have been producing delicious organic Fair Trade Nespresso coffee capsules with an emphasis on quality and ethical practices.
What is USDA Certification?
To be certified as USDA organic, all of our coffee beans are required to be grown without the use of harmful chemicals and must use more sustainable farming methods. Instead of chemical fertilizers, farmers use natural manure fertilizers and other organic soil enhancers. Chemical pesticides, insecticides, and other mixtures are prohibited, except for those that have been studied and proven safe for use with food crops. This is a very narrow list that excludes many harmful chemicals.
Our continued reliance on the best organic practices allows us to proudly show our commitment to organic coffee through use of the USDA organic logo. Unlike EU certified organic products which do not distinguish between organic and 100% organic, our products are certified by the USDA as 100% organic.
What is Fairtraide USA Certification?
Fair Trade USA is a non-profit organization that looks at the supply chains and business practices used to obtain coffee, tea, chocolate, and other products. Those companies that source ethically by allowing farm workers to organize, paying fair minimum rates for produce, ensuring minimum standards of labor, and encouraging sustainable environmental practices can obtain Fair Trade certification.
We are proud to be one of the few organic Fair Trade Nespresso capsule producers in the market today. Our customers get the benefits of a fantastic cup of coffee without having to worry about what went into making it. Your health and the living standards of those producing our coffee beans are two of our top priorities, which is why Fair Trade certification is a big part of every coffee we roast.
